Jim Kimsey received his B.A. in Telecommunications from Indiana University,
where he also studied Audio Engineering and Jazz Improvisation. Jim has been a video/audio producer for over 25 years. He has also composed/performed, recorded & produced a variety of video soundtracks, as well as performing at a variety of venues. In addition to freelance projects, Jim is currently completing course work for the Master of Science in Music Technology at Indiana University School of Music/ IUPUI.


Freelance 1999-Present

-- Musical Instruction, performance & composition

-- Audio production and engineering --- from analog to MIDI to ADAT to digital hard disk,
utilizing a variety of consoles and outboard gear in both commercial and project
studio environments; Apple and PC platform proficiency.

DVD productions, utilizing a real-time Accom StrataSphere Digital non-linear
video/audio workstation.
Apple G3 platform; 4 stereo pairs real time digital audio, up to 99 rendered layers digital
video; digitized Betacam SP field and studio.

Direct New Business selling. Working with Corporate clients and house creative, production
and management staffs.

Commercial Producer 1994-1996

WRTV- Channel 6 (ABC)/ the McGraw-Hill Companies, Indianapolis, IN.

Created commercial spots for local, regional and national accounts,from creative
conception through finished production --- including writing, producing, directing talent and
crew, pre and post production. Managed commercial production facilities and staff.
Also produced local programming and special segments, as well as composing and
recording original music for commercials and programs.

Audio/Visual Manager & Executive Producer 1986-1994
Cassell Productions, Indianapolis, IN.

Designed, produced and budgeted video and multi-image slide productions for
corporate marketing, sales and public relations (budgets ranging to $200,000). Planned
and staged national and local meetings & shows highlighting product introductions,
training, market position and corporate image. Worked extensively in sound design, in
addition to original music production, composing and arranging.
